i listened to first 4 songs on the album cage the elephant again and had a flashback to school. often, i’d visualise arranging off-the-cuff for a band and performing

like it makes sense to me to just kinda perform those 4 songs for 15 mins in the form room b4 registration [1/6]

as an adult it’s easier to see what the obstacles were, like it’d take a big grind to get my voice in shape, learn a rhythm box, learn to sing and play at the same time, arrange w/o bass etc

but as a kid the inhibition was so overwhelming

you have no inspiration from your household, no sense of your own potential, no social capital, no real connection with the ppl who showed you that music whom you might enlist. while sitting in a world of npcs who seem to just do nothing with themselves, at least at school

it feels like being stuck in one place as your life force is spent and you lose the ability to interact w/ the world as i imagine an octagenarian might. well, it’s a process i’m partly enduring rn

but in my head, i already have those basics locked and can focus on the flair

like i’m listening to tiny little robots and focusing on how strong the lead guitar is, and how well unison with the voice would work, thru the dynamic changes like in the 3rd chorus
