i resurrected a windows 7 installation some months ago and got hit by a faulty driver thru windows update for “amd platform security processor” that caused boot crash even on safe mode. had to get preinstallation environment on a usb stick and delete it by command line [1/6]

it’s funny cos it’s another case of a western mega-corp deploying obfuscated tech your microsoft pc is forced to run in the name of “security”, then becoming the threat itself by breaking the pc
there’s no good-faith excuse here imo; either defend transparently or don’t “defend”

why the fuck would this kind of software run in the kernel? broken driver that even loads in safe mode in my case? is their solution to combatting rootkits “become the rootkit” or saink?

all this rly shows me is that these companies have no accountability, are single points of failure, and these westernised computers have no resilience and aren’t even able to recover themselves from a broken antimalware

it doesn’t matter that linux is from the west because it is built to be transparent. and p much the winners of this situation are the countries that are ostracised by the west and so forced to become self-sufficient

this has parallels with the worldwide dedollarisation of trade that western sanctions have caused, only accelerating the terminal decline of the west as a power
