obvious counterpoint: “isn’t pride about campaigning for lgbt rights and celebrating them + those aspects of being?”
imo this is reductively conflating lgbt with q
ignoring *why* ppl do this, the basic function of q is to theorycraft identities then reify them thru stereotyping

you take a label and flag and interpret it by associating behaviours you wish for. its meaning is what you give it, nothing more
so it functions as a kind of in-group antenna. and then it piggybacks off the legit cause of lgbt rights to compel outsiders to validate its prestige

so is pride about celebrating lgbt or promoting q? it’s both. depends which side of bed i got out of today
i think it mostly just cringes me out. but i need to think harder on what gets to me
maybe related to promoting insincere self-expression, performing identity for prestige

the reason people do this is that they’re searching for answers. and the more alienated the world gets, the more they must search. but what they find isn’t insight – it’s an in-group to take refuge in
yet the refuge i yearn for is fitting into the real world of normal people
