this is an interesting story about insecurity over failure. it's a natural insecurity for sure, but the dark side of this story is the reality, that failure is not an option in society [1/6] https://youtu.be/G_kilCgitIY

it's selling the american dream, which, in other words, is that you should fixate on role models to believe you can succeed, and cling to this belief to cope with the journey your life takes, a journey in which most people fail

this isn't the same as chasing your dreams, finding what you're good at, finding a *purpose* in life. it's key to mental health to realise life has no purpose and u must construct your own to be okay

all this is part of the journey to self-actualisation, maturity and self-esteem

rather, the requirement to succeed is a reflection on how people are pacified to ignore their low standard of living, and set up to compete with each other over scraps. it's that a special degree of success is required to not be materially suffering every day

it's a whole other thing tryna succeed as part of finding yourself + forging identity, and being required to for a decent standard of living. i'm selling socialism/collectivist mentality rly

failing at relationships for me cascaded into failing at self-actualisation around skill
