the thing w/ knowing these guys from early days is i've seen their careers evolve and them grow up. im not surprised they delete stuff, and even the legendary cesca ep2 (https://cesca.bandcamp.com/album/ep2) which is a goat record to me is to ciarán just stuff from when they were much younger

he deleted "human heart" too which was, tbh, incredible, such an essential take on thom yorke's the eraser. i find these guys get hung up on the amateurish sides of their early work, like alfa mist mentions nocturne being done "only on headphones". sure, these things do stick out

they're eyesores when you're looking at *your own* work, that people other than you just... see as part of the character and process of those early days, as smth that accentuates the essence that lives on in their current work

it's a process i wish they could be more proud of

but as for me, i rly couldn't have it any other way. to me, those rough edges are markers of childhood and tie into my general obsession with precociousness, and the feeling of a time in the past when our potentials were unwritten. ig it's a time i felt positive about my future

so when i pick these kinds of scrappy lofi beats that invariably sound very different to the artist's mature, stable MO, i'm rly goin for, like, his soul, the unique emotions his work consistently evokes, unchanged then till now, but from a more childish, innocent, nostalgic time
