today was a really hard day watching people get vilified for having opinions the culture deems “evil” and i felt like addressing these two tweets may make it easier as a “survivor” (lol good one) of several false accusations of abuse

then i hope i can get back to self-reflection

when u make a show of believing (see discussion on day i was banned –https://shoutplenty.netlify.app/case/sms/me/review/1/#the-impact), u tell victims that u are somebody they can’t trust to hear you out even when u *are* able to get your receipts together and prove your innocence

that there is a wall of narratives to be overcome by a traumatised victim who has lost many friends to completely unfounded claims that are either kept entirely secret or don’t even have enough substance to be falsifiable. but they must be believed because “believe victims”

i would’ve done a lot to have even a few more people question out loud what they were being told about me. just a few more pointing out the motives people could have for trying to ruin me, even if they changed their mind as facts emerged. just having people *want* facts to emerge

i will talk broadly now

things have changed a lot in 3 years. a summary i gave once is that before 2020, you could get away with raping someone, and now, u can take someone down for rape by withdrawing consent months after it happened

there are no ethics either way. people want to dominate others, dishonesty wins out in human nature, and the culture has given them the means, both times

it used to be that false accusations of abuse were rare but the internet the past 3 years has shown me it’s now a coin-flip

with sexual assault, this is especially disturbing bc the police will almost never hold it to account, yet the public will happily lynch an innocent. so there is no right answer

except just… don’t get assaulted and don’t get falsely accused

i just wish i hadn’t so badly
