it’s hard to accept that there are things you can’t express an opinion on w/o being called a bigot, being patronised on your motives and knowledge, and told you just need to “learn”
for most people, this makes them draw lines on what they say out loud

then they stop taking an interest in issues affecting vulnerable groups, whose suffering is then silenced
people should want to have opinions and care, instead they want to keep friends
i feel the pain of the erased people and it substantially adds to my sadness

i find it really hard to stop caring in the way most people can chameleon around dogmatic friends and get on with their day
it also adds to my fear of my overall disadvantage in keeping friends, which having opinions shouldn’t affect but does these days
