i remember seeing a youtube video that described how human communication is oriented towards trying to convince ppl of smth rather than towards finding the truth. and it's reflected in their systems, with the dominance of capitalism (tryna make money) and politics beating science

but lying and manipulating ppl to convince them is something i'm rly bad at doing. so i think i made the right decision to give up and try to dissociate from humans, period. out of all the reasons i'm sad, i think lumardy will always be the big one bc that's how i realised this

i saw my friendships get deleted and was powerless. the other thing he taught me is that, well, i'd thought love wins. it doesn't. love here rly means empathy; i think the concept of love humans traditionally have isn't even real. but the empathy humans have isn't good enough

that's rly one and the same problem – humans prefer convincing over truth-seeking cos they don't visualise their opponent's pov. the reason i lose is that my depictions of opponents do convey that, so my opponents don't seem "evil" enough to merit being deleted. but i do to them

to my surprise, i found that once i'd resolved the truth on that matter (by drowning it with evidence), the pattern started repeating, with more intelligently-executed lying, case after case, ending my reputation, and making truth-seeking seem unfashionable somehow??

but it's like that everywhere. from the frivolous case of saying who has wr in sms any% moving into the territory of stigma (lol), to moderators being empowered to replace evidence with rhetoric when cancelling someone. these days, u can see some1 be accused of sexual offences—

by several ppl at the same time, and have it be entirely plausible that they conspired to twist facts to get rid of that person. "believe [minority]" doesn't work anymore. i once saw reputable sm64 players say consent can be taken away months after an encounter, and no1 noticed

i saw mlarvitar make light of my domestic abuse situation to say that i'm mentally ill, and no1 noticed

i think every important political issue i've seen has also become a battle of taking sides, and centrism/compromise are out. caring about why ppl think as they do is also out

the impact of queer culture on lgbt people, of inequality on westerners, of fossil fuels on the planet, and of warmongering everywhere (including 🇺🇦)... is all buried in layers and layers of false narratives and either equally cringe or extremely unpopular opposition

and no mainstream movements to better understand the issues, reconcile different stakeholders, use science to decide things. it's all rhetoric and i feel like it's gone over a tipping point it hadn't in the past, where there's an exploding chain-reaction of self-interest

bolstering the desire to convince vs find the truth. i say the past – not since WWII. and i feel like the world ends with a combination of climate catastrophe and the usa losing its sustainability and starting a nuclear war in its place. and i don't wanna be around to see that
