i feel let down by mainstream ideology i’m meant to support. i already said e.g. i’ve started seeing usa liberalism as trojan horse for class exploitation. but the only alternative there is conservatism, which i could never be cos of my roots in rationality/the scientific method

it reminds me of realising as a kid i’d never get a straight answer on what happened in balkan wars cos every source was hopelessly biased towards one side or the other

but the fact this now applies to all politics and i haven’t seen a genuine centrist position in a decade is 🤮

after a while i realised, no, they rly do believe what they say. here’s the thing w/ humans–

if they try to manipulate stupid ppl into believing extreme ideology to counter a greater evil, they will make things worse cos they’re themselves too stupid to pull off the manipulation

if someone says “trans women are women” or “poc can’t be racist”, ppl don’t have the capacity to go “i know wym” but instead take it at face value and tie themselves into knots when confronted w/ women’s sports rulesets or a poc being harmed by racial slur “reclamation”

and then the straightforward, dissonance-free opinions most of us have only come out when drunk or smth…

progress requires erry1 to mean what they say + say what they mean. cos u can’t appeal for common ground if you look extreme. and the best stances are naturally centrist

i’m personally just tired of having to synthesise all my opinions from opposing extreme ideologies and having to aggressively scan every source i read for bias

instead of just reading a ready-made centrist position that’s already done the heavy lifting i suppose
