#1 “TWAW as a mantra” doesn’t mean TWAW is false but refers to how TWAW is sometimes used to shut down debates about whether biological women are entitled to their own sports, toilets etc by equivocating sex with gender (via the ambiguous term “women”)

#2 this entire excerpt isn’t saying that supporting unions is dumb but rather that the average person’s motive is to toe the prevailing line, not act out of principle
(even for ppl who don’t understand the debate around trans issues, this strawman should be obvious)

i rly think it’s not hard to understand that rights for one oppressed group can manifest as oppressions for another, and that critical thinking about the balance ≠ bigotry to one group
but i feel like i can’t visit those topics w/o appearing transphobic to at least 30% of ppl

it’s not a reflection on someone’s opinions (which may or may not be transphobic) but rather the sheer act of saying smth that critiques w/e the dominant opinions are
and the fact i’m so defensive, overexplaining in 5 twts rather than the 1st one by itself, tells the whole story
