i don't wanna live in a world where someone can do smth bad, lie about it to others and then it's game over just like that. was reminded how easily this happens while watching @fleabag. it just seems like a bad move to put time into any1 when u can just get dropped by a 3rd party

signs of these behaviours can often be seen from miles away but as i was once told, ppl are "unfathomably bad at comprehending implications and interpreting attitudes/tones". i've often been the only one to call out such behaviours, and it's not just cos others avoid conflict

very honest people have this tendency to be deliriously optimistic about dishonest ppl. i've seen ppl get torn up after discovering extensive betrayal, and make out that their abusers are some unprecedented evil, when the warning signs had been starkly written on the walls

and related to that, thinking that terrible social consequences of lying are a "cosmic joke" rather than v predictable, cos they assume every1 is fair like they are

the worst of it is being so sure of your optimistic interpretation that u gag the victim and make out it's all in eir imagination and ey's causing "drama" by daring to investigate it

like, do u not realise how hard it is to even suspect, let alone prove, a manipulation case?

there's reading too much into things, and there's ignoring them – a balance to strike that ppl tend to fall too far down the latter side, cos it's easier for them, head in the sand. u don't realise the meaning of it all until u feel it on your own skin

i really think all it takes is sitting down and pondering the implications of actions. just being more sober about it, cos u have inevitably seen that shit before at some point in your life

and the other thing is, to prevent a disaster that reveals bad traits in tons of ppl, focus on the few ppl who start negativity in neutral situations. hold that to account and they'll learn they can't get away w/ it, and potentially become genuinely better people
